Paul McCartney of the legendary rock band “The Beatles” announced the completion of the production of “the final Beatles record. John Lennon’s voice, extracted by AI, was used to create the music.

・To be released during 2023.

・McCartney said, “He [Director Jackson] was able to extract John’s voice from an old cassette tape. Director Jackson was able to extract only the voice by instructing him to ‘remove only the guitar sound.'” “We were able to use AI to extract John’s voice from his demos when we were making the last Beatles record,” he said.

These are the quotes from the article

In this age of combination, we should not lose sight of the fundamentals of combination.

I am looking forward to hearing the new Beatles songs, with AI John Lennon’s voice.

The use of AI singing is no longer a surprise, but the use of an AI singer by a full-fledged artist, and a legendary one at that, the Beatles, is groundbreaking.

By the way, the AI singer who surprised me the most recently was Freddie Mercury of Queen, who covered the Beatles’ “Yesterday. The quality is amazing.

The level of AI singers will continue to rise, and the range of AI singers’ activities will continue to expand.

【With the rise of music streaming services, the number of people listening to old music surges → stagnation of new music culture?】
https://amimako.com/music-culture-streaming-spotify-apple-old-new-culture-stagnation/

Some time ago, I wrote this blog. I was talking about how streaming has made it possible to listen to older songs, so modern musicians have to constantly compete not only with modern songs, but also with older songs. (Streaming has made that trend stronger.)

This may be the same for singers as well as music, right?

If AI singers sing more and more in this day and age, then perhaps modern singers will, in a sense, be in constant comparison and competition not only with today’s singers, but also with the legendary singers of the past.

When I think about it, I realize that we are living in a time when many things are becoming more and more difficult for musicians and singers today in terms of trying to stand out and stand out.

Also, one more thought.

I was struck by one article that said, “Generative AI will turn all humans into DJs.”

What is DJ?

Short for “disk jockey,” a person who selects and plays records at dance clubs and discos. A DJ is a person who does not just play pre-made records, but often uses multiple turntables at the same time, mixes, scratches, and other techniques.

In other words, a DJ is someone who combines existing (music) stuff.

It is easy to imagine that the AI and ChatGPT era will indeed be an era of combination.

But what I think is that DJs can combine music, but they cannot create the music itself to combine, or play an instrument. (Although there are DJs who can.)

What I’m trying to say is,

Even though the combination has become the mainstay of our time,

The major source of the combination must continue to be cherished. (retention, storage, inheritance, etc.)

An extreme example,

I myself make music on my PC, but I work on music without knowing why the sound is made in my PC or how it works.

Other things, such as why sound comes from speakers, vacuum cleaners, refrigerators, microwave ovens, etc., we can say that we live our lives combining many of these things without knowing the principles, mechanisms, and fundamentals.

https://nazology.net/archives/123514

Even NASA’s space suits are lost technology, so I believe that if we disregard the fundamental elements of the combination, we may be in trouble.

I’m getting a little off topic,

What I want to say again is,

AI singers, AI composers, etc,
Music is entering the age of combination, but we hope that the fundamental elements of combination, playing instruments, singing, and creating music from scratch (people and skills), will continue, be inherited, and maintained in the future.

Since most of today’s entertainment, such as music, is digital, there is a possibility that all the data could be blown up at any moment. (Although I don’t think technology that we touch, such as vacuum cleaners and microwave ovens, would blow up so easily.)

That’s what I thought,

I would like to continue to sing and make music. That is the element of my originality. (Originality that cannot be achieved by a combination of the two)

This is as far as I have to go,

I apologize for the length of my miscellaneous impressions from the topic of new Beatles songs being released by AI John Lennon.

I’m interested in “AI” and “music,” so it’s a long story.^^;

See you then.

Thanks to many technologies and combinations, we modern people are alive. However, thanks to the increased convenience, fewer modern people will be able to start a fire from scratch, and their computational skills will have declined. If we lose our principles and basics at our mercy, perhaps future generations will not be able to drive a car or play music.
